Nova Communications, a Division of ROCK Networks, Awarded Contract for School Bus Video Enforcement Solution Under the New Brunswick First Procurement Strategy and Action Plan
Moncton, NB, August 9, 2023: Today, Nova Communications, a division of ROCK Networks, hosted an event to celebrate a contract awarded under the New Brunswick First Procurement Strategy and Action Plan. The contract involves the installation and servicing of a video enforcement solution developed by Safe Fleet. This solution aims to tackle the illegal passing of school buses for the Department of EECD, Educational Facilities & Transportation. Greg Turner, MLA for Moncton South and Minister of Economic Development and Small Business; Bill Hogan, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development; Mary Wilson, Minister of Service New Brunswick; Bruse Finch, Minister of Health; and Dawn Arnold, Mayor of the City of Moncton attended the event.
ROCK Networks, a leading provider of future-proof communications solutions, partnered with Safe Fleet, a leading provider of safety solutions for fleet vehicles, to deploy stop-arm cameras in New Brunswick. The Safe Fleet Smart Stop Arm Camera captures violations as they occur, using AI, advanced algorithms, and analytics to capture the license plates of offenders and enable ticketing by local law enforcement. The driver can press a button as violations occur to make it easier to search for footage of incidents.
The contract was awarded under the New Brunswick First Procurement Strategy and Action Plan. Launched in 2020, the strategy and action plan demonstrates the province’s commitment to supporting local businesses by streamlining the process of securing government contracts. This initiative fosters economic growth and reinforces partnerships within the community.
“We were thrilled to partner with Safe Fleet to deploy this innovative solution to improve school bus safety in New Brunswick,” said Joe Hickey, President and CEO of ROCK Networks. “Nova Communications, a division of ROCK Networks, has provided two-way radio and mobility products in the province for over 15 years, helping our customers improve safety and boost productivity. This contract enabled us to maintain a strong presence in the region as we expand our offerings.”
“As passionate advocates for school bus safety, we applaud initiatives such as the New Brunswick First Procurement Strategy and Action Plan; we are excited to partner with ROCK Networks and The Province of New Brunswick in ensuring a safer ride for children to and from school,” said Chris Akiyama, VP, Sales, Safe Fleet.
