Joe Hickey, President and CEO, Wins Top 50 CEO for the Third Year in a Row
Joe Hickey, our President and CEO, was named one of Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEOs for the third year in a row. Mr. Hickey accepted his award virtually last night at their gala. The gala recognized the ingenuity that helped regional businesses survive and thrive during the pandemic.
Atlantic Business Magazine is an award-winning leading publication covering all areas of business within the four Atlantic provinces. Now in its 24th year, Top 50 CEO awards have grown into Atlantic Canada’s premier celebration of corporate leadership excellence.
While many companies struggled during the pandemic, Mr. Hickey embraced change and invested in new business lines in the broadband space while continuing to drive growth in the company’s existing communications solutions. Mr. Hickey’s proud Newfoundland heritage, combined with ROCK Networks’ 40-plus-year history in Atlantic Canada, has fueled his passion for bridging the digital divide in rural and remote communities in the region, an area long overlooked by large telcos.
“I am extremely honoured to win this award for the third year in a row,” said Mr. Hickey. “ROCK Networks is committed to providing high-speed internet for all Canadians. This year, we are working with new partners and exciting new technologies and progressive business models to bring new connectivity solutions to Atlantic Canada.”
Mr. Hickey also serves on the board of techNL, a not-for-profit industry association representing Newfoundland and Labrador’s technology and innovation sector. By working with techNL, he aims to enable the tech sector to flourish in the province.
Atlantic Business Magazine dedicates one of its six issues per year to profiling Atlantic Canada’s most accomplished business leaders. These awards recognize worthy individuals as well as inspire other companies and business leaders to achieve similar success. Readers submit top CEO nominations, and nominees are judged according to their corporate, community, and industry involvement, their company’s growth in recent years, and their responses to various managerial challenges.
